What to do with extra island time

Walk toward the light first, while you still have energy, then snorkel. Midday sand is a frying pan. Flip-flops are a mistake on the rock. There is no shop to buy a second bottle of water.

If the crew allows wreck time, ask early — conditions change. A private boat can linger; a shared powerboat still has a group clock, just a better one than a late cat.

What still eats the day

A slow briefing, a late marina, or a lumpy outbound that the captain throttles back. Speed is an advantage, not a contract. Weather can erase the whole difference.

Your own packing. No shoes, no walk. No dry bag, you babysit a phone. No reef-safe sunscreen, you burn and cut the snorkel short. The boat cannot pack for you.
